Your code

HTML Viewer Online runs in your browser. The code you type, paste or import is edited, formatted, checked, previewed and captured as a screenshot on your own device. It is not uploaded to our server. Files you import are read locally by your browser.

Drafts saved in your browser

So that a refresh does not lose your work, the editor saves your latest code, and whether Auto-run is on, in your browser's local storage on this device. We cannot see it. You can remove it by clearing this site's data in your browser settings; the Clear button empties the editor.

Share links

The Share button creates a link that contains your code, encoded after the # sign. Browsers do not send the part after # to web servers, so the code is not stored by us. However, anyone who has the link can read the code, and the link may be kept in chat or email history wherever you paste it. Do not put passwords, keys or personal data in shared code.

The preview

Previewed code runs in a sandboxed frame. It cannot read or change the editor page or your saved draft, and it cannot navigate the editor tab. If your code loads images, fonts or scripts from other websites, your browser contacts those websites directly, as it would for any web page.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which tools are used — for example that the Format or Screenshot button was clicked, and whether the visitor was on a phone or a computer. We do not send your code, file names, file contents, console output or share links to Google Analytics; the page address is reported without the # part. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data such as your approximate location and device type under Google's privacy policy.

Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure ads. You can manage personalised advertising in Google's Ad Settings and learn how Google uses data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Ads are shown only in marked "Advertisement" areas outside the editor and preview; your code is never sent to the advertising service.

Third-party files

The editor loads open-source libraries (Ace editor, js-beautify, html-to-image) from the cdnjs content delivery network and fonts from Google Fonts. These requests include your IP address and browser details, but never your code.
